The primary scope of work contracted is the construction of a roof over the grandstands. As part of the modernisation work, a new western grandstand will be built and the eastern one will be upgraded with separate access to VIP zones, food court and car parks. In order to provide an optimum level of daylight at the pitch level while at the same time keeping the spectator area in appropriate shade, a lightweight roofing structure has been designed, which will be covered with bright translucent polycarbonate. The revamped stadium will be able to welcome 8,000 sports fans more than it can currently hold.
