At the end of January, HOCHTIEF Polska Poz - Building Branch started the first stage of construction of a new plant of the Kronospan Group in Strzelce Opolskie. The scope of the work includes building the warehouse and production halls A, B, C and D of a total area of 26,400 sqm. The project is to be completed in September 2008. It is not the first such assignment in Poland entrusted by the Kronospan Group to HOCHTIEF Polska Poz - Building Branch.

The venture undertaken by a Member Company of the Kronospan Group in Strzelce Opolskie is the largest such project run in that area so far. The storage and production halls will be placed at the location of a former cement plant run by Cementownia Gorazdze S.A. and closed in 2004. The area of approx. 63 ha on which the new facilities are to be located was incorporated into the Katowice Special Economic Zone, which is also a success of the local authorities. The new plant is of critical importance to the development of the community. It will create at least 200 workplaces and its construction will be subsidised at no less than 50 million euro.

"The plant in Strzelce Opolskie is not the first project for the Kronospan Group carried out by HOCHTIEF Polska Poz - Building Branch. The previous ones included constructing a production hall along with its technical facilities and an expansion of the plant in Szczecinek. We are very happy to see that the trust we won at the earlier projects made our Client select us for co-operation in Strzelce Opolskie", says Dariusz Wietrzynski, the Director of HOCHTIEF Polska Poz - Building Branch.

By upgrading the plants, such as the one in Szczecinek, and by transferring new technologies to Poland, the Kronospan Group continues the era of its dynamic growth. The completed investments have already confirmed its status of a leading manufacturer and exporter of wood-based materials.
